Indonesia Sailing Trips

In the years that Aliikai has been in operation I have learnt a couple of things.

Firstly, wooden boats leak when it rains. No amount of fiberglass can change this universal truth. It’s miserable, wet and not fun at all. So I have decided that during the “wet” Al Iikai will go home to Sulawesi and rest up. The crew can take their annual leave, and all necessary work to the boat can be done on the beach, the way it has been done for centuries. Consequently, Al Iikai will be unavailable for scheduled cruises, or charter work for the months January and February.

Secondly, if you make the commitment to travel to Indonesia, and pay a deposit to do one of our cruises, then the trip is confirmed. Sometime this means you have the boat to yourself! I can’t expect people to wait around till a trip is “confirmed” (meaning there are enough guests to cover the costs) so we run our trips regardless of the number of guests booked. Unusual, but we are not the normal business. Our guests are our number one concern, even if there are only a couple of you.

Thirdly, you’ll be amazed how many of your friends may want to join you when they hear about your planned adventure. We offer a discount for small group travel, so it is worth your time to see if friends want to join you. About half our trips now consist of groups of friends who want to travel together. Don’t worry if you are a solo traveller, strangers become friends almost overnight.

Indonesia Adventure Tour Packages

As our trips are unique, so too are our policies on price structure and cabin allocation.

Cabin allocation is made on first in, best cabin basis.

Children under 12 travel free.
Children between 12 and 18 travel at 50% of the adult rate.

Solo Travellers – there is no solo surcharge – and I would never expect you to share a cabin with someone else!

Prices include all sea travel, meals, soft drinks and use of all boat facilities. There is a nominal charge for local beer. Wine and spirits are not supplied due to licensing restrictions. I can put you in touch with a very good wine wholesaler in Bali so you can order direct, and have it waiting for you when you arrive. Service charge is not included, and you may want to leave a tip for the crew when you depart.

As always, itinerary may change due to weather and sea conditions. The Captain of the vessel has final say regarding all matters relating to the safety of the vessel, the crew and the guests.

All trip prices are displayed in US Dollars. However, as per Indonesian regulations, invoices will be issued in Indonesian Rupiah. The exchange rate will be calculated at the time of invoicing.

This is the perfect adventure for those who want to go further afield in Indonesia, but still need the convenience of departure and arrival in Bali. This is not a trip for those who want to experience places were other “tourists” mingle. Rather it’s a exploration of the islands of West Nusa Tenggara. We seek the unexplored wonders of Lombok, Western Sumbawa and islands in between. Discover hidden waterfalls, marine lakes, incredible snorkelling, and – weather permitting – swim with the whale sharks! Suitable for all ages, this is truly a unique holiday.

#CrazyKomodo – Cost & Departure: Varies (see below)

Why Crazy? Many guests who do charter Aliikai on an annual basis, only want one way trips between Komodo and Bali. Trying to fill the return trips drives me Crazy!!!!!

Komodo, and the journey there (or back – depending on the trip) is a truly unique experience. It should be on everyone’s bucket list. Sadly, many of my enquiries expect to do a three day trip, from Bali, see the dragons, and move onto another adventure. It’s simply not possible. It’s a minimum of 4 days travel just to get to the Komodo National Park. And why rush……you miss all the fun of the journey! So, yes – we do see the dragons, but there is so much more. We swim with manta rays, visit a village where they still make traditional Phinisi boats, discover by motorbike, the Princess Dianna waterfalls, snorkel with whale sharks, swim in a marine lake filled with rare algae – every day is an amazing adventure.

If you want to experience Komodo, we currently have the following trips on offer. Check back as these will be updated through the year:

Departure Dates:

  • 15 April, 2019 – Bali to Komodo 12 days / 11 nights Cost US $2750
  • 27 April, 2019 – Komodo to Bali 11 days / 10 nights Cost US $2500
  • 18 September, 2019 – Komodo to Bali 11 days / 10 nights Cost US $2500
  • 23 October, 2019 – Return Trip Bali/Komodo/Bali Cost US $3150
US$2500.00 - US$3150.00 per person/twin share
